Hima Das becomes 1st Indian woman to win gold at IAAF World U- 20 Athletics Championships.

Hima Das created history.She becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold at the IAAF World Under- 20.Athletics Championships in Tempere,Finland yesterday.She clinched the top spot in the women's 400 meters final race on the third day of the competitions. 


The 18-year-old Das clocked 51.46 seconds to win the gold. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Hima Das for her historic win. The President, in a tweet, called the achievement - a proud moment for India.

Mr Modi said, India is delighted and proud of her. He said, this accomplishment will certainly inspire young athletes in the coming years.Home Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated the athlete saying it is a special and glorious moment in India’s sporting history.Sports Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore said, she has made country proud.
